Embargoed until 4.1.2010 - KGM Motor Insurance, a specialist provider of motor insurance products to niche markets, today announces the appointment of John Searl as Claims Director. He joins the business from Brit Insurance where he had spent the last nine years, most recently as motor claims manager.
John will be responsible for managing claims costs and developing the strategic approach for the division including business planning across all classes of business. He will be responsible for the KGM claims teams across two locations in South Woodford and Chelmsford, as well as overseeing the performance of its strategic outsourced partners. This will include the setting of service levels for both internal and external claims handling, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory initiatives including Treating Customers Fairly.
Active Underwriter, Colin Hart, comments: "While the motor insurance market is undergoing a challenging period, we believe that there is a real opportunity for KGM to forge a strong position by focusing on its chosen niche markets. We have invested in our future success by putting robust systems in place and selecting the right partners to work with and that means internally as well as externally. Our claims department is the bedrock of our business. Not only is it the shop window to our brokers' clients, it underpins the effectiveness of our underwriting success. John has over thirty years' dedicated experience to motor claims and a track record of delivering great results. I am delighted to welcome him to KGM and am confident that he will prove an invaluable member of the senior management team."
John has built his career as a motor insurance claims professional over the past thirty-two years. Prior to his time at Brit, he spent eight years at Highway in a series of roles before being promoted to technical claims manager. He began his career as a claims negotiator at Secretan in 1978.
On joining KGM, he said: "KGM has shown its commitment to further developing its claims service with the opening of its operation in Chelmsford and the appointment of some key strategic partners over the past 18 months. I am looking forward to taking things forward to make sure that we provide our brokers' clients with a first class service."
