KGM Motor Insurance, a specialist provider of motor insurance products to niche markets has launched a bespoke policy wording for taxis following feedback from supporting brokers.
Doug Phelan, Group Development Manager, comments: “The majority of taxi insurance policies on the market are adapted private car policies. Consulting with our broker partners, we established that there was a real demand for a tailored policy specific for the taxi market cover with new elements of cover to benefit taxi drivers.”
The new policy from KGM includes cover for damage to any taxi meter, two way communication equipment and satellite navigation equipment permanently fitted to the vehicle. Windscreen cover comes as standard and there is an option to protect the full no claims bonus.
A dedicated claims service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and brokers can benefit from KGM’s online quotation and instant cover note services.
Kevin Ware, KGM’s Private and Public Hire Class Underwriter adds: “Our taxi business is very much geared towards coastal and rural areas and smaller towns, and our policyholders are often sole traders or small firms. Our brokers know that for many of the drivers their vehicle is their lifeblood and having bespoke cover is all important. At KGM we pride ourselves on developing strong relationships with our brokers and enabling them to have direct access to experienced underwriters. In that way we can be flexible and responsive when it comes to writing innovative and tailored wordings.”
