Financial and Capital Modelling Analyst

Department: Risk, Assurance & Governance

Reporting To: Risk and Compliance Director

Location: South Woodford

Role Purpose

To provide assistance to the Executive Director team in all aspects of management information and modelling to support the objective of obtaining and managing profitable business and optimising capital requirements.

Work as part of a project team in designing and implementing the Solvency II framework.

Key Accountabilities

  • Parameterisation of models and data analysis to support modeling work (Remetrica).
  • Interpretation and presentation of modeled results to various groups within the company.
  • Working with the Finance Team and Data Team to develop management information and reporting packs.
  • Participate in the Solvency II programme workstreams with particular focus on internal model build and development supported by Deliotte.
  • Assistance in the preparation of Individual Capital Assessments (ICAs), including updates, as and when required.
  • Assisting the Risk & Compliance Director, and Finance Director, in all other aspects of risk and capital modelling (scenario and stress testing/sensitivity analyses).
  • Assist the Active Underwriter with the building of multivariate models to predict average losses versus driver characteristics, vehicle characteristics and location.
  • Developing quantitative techniques to capture and model data on business management processes.
  • Work with consultancy resources on aspects of ICA and SII under direction from the directors.
  • Participation in agency sub-committees, project groups and working parties as required.
  • Implementing company policy and developing appropriate procedures/documentation.
  • Identification and specification of enhancements to modelling techniques.
  • Detailed statistical investigations into specific business performance issues.
  • Act appropriately to Data Protection requirements.
  • Undertake ad hoc statistical and analytical work as required.

Skills

  • Essential: Honors Degree - 1st or 2.1 in a numerate discipline, 'A' Level Maths Grade A, Part Qualified Actuary.
  • Essential: Good knowledge of Excel and Word (or equivalent). Strong spreadsheet skills.
  • Knowledge of capital modelling or financial modelling in an insurer or financial services company environment.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of computer programming and data manipulation. Sequel, @Risk, Remetrica or other capital modelling tools.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Risk Management/ERM
