ROLE PURPOSE
To proactively manage 1st party claims recoveries on behalf of the syndicate.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Review recovery opportunities for all paid claims referred.
- Undertake relevant background enquiries to include MID and DVLA.
- Proactively chase recoveries from identified insurers and third parties.
- Use telephone as preferred method of communication.
- Deal with all relevant claims correspondence as outlined within the service standards agreement.
- Maintain an effective diary regime.
- Review subsequent action required ie instruction of solicitors and/or enquiry agents.
- Maintain post within service standards.
- Assess liability and refer any disputes to the TP team.
- Refer any claim to the Claims Director or Technical Claims Manager should the nature of the claim change, deteriorate or require major adjustment to the reserve.
- Allocate recovery amounts to the file.
- Close any settled claim and re-open such file, if necessary.
- Assist with the production of recovery MI as requested.
- Operate in accordance with the set KGM Service Standards.
- Act appropriately to Data Protection requirements.
- Act in a professional manner at all times.
Secondary duties
- Provide assistance within the Claims Department.
- Assist as a referral or training resources as required.
- Assist in audit requirements both internal and external as necessary.
- Maintain awareness to health and safety within the Company.
- Maintain awareness to Company Risk exposure.
SKILLS
- Previous motor claims handling experience
- Act in a professional manner at all times
- A positive attitude
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Good organisation
- Computer literate, MS Office
- Team player
Minimum of 5 GCSE’s grades A – C, including English and maths
